I was fortunate enough to be in the running for a lovely book illustration job. I was unfortunate enough to not get the job. The brief required black and white line illustrations, so putting my black and white line illustrating cap on here’s some of the prep work.

Just wait there and be a little patient…

Erm, right, right you are then. Presenting a healthy little visual, the Dr Kelly & Associates website, prescribed for the usual suspects, 3mil.

Now avoid operating any heavy machinery.

Working for team 3mil is always a pleasure, these fine people employed me to assist in the design of the Vintage Playing Cards’ brand spanking new website. I present thee with a first stage visual, take a moment, brew a green tea and consider if you will.

Wake me up before you logo, don’t leave me hanging on like a yo-yo. Wake me up before you logo, I don’t want to miss it when you hit that high. Wake me up before you logo, ’cause I’m not plannin’ on going solo. Wake me up before you logo, take me dancing tonight, I wanna hit that high, yeah, yeah, yeah, anyways, some first stage logo visuals for you to cast your peepers over.

I like hats, they keep my head warm, I like hats even more when they contain NFC technology. Top cat Rob Wingrove is an astute man and he makes wonderful ideas happen. He asked me to create a web page for his latest enterprise, Capify, and I think it turned out quite nice again. Great idea Rob.

I have a friend, (I really do), who I would say is a good man. When Nick The Bennett isn’t drinking my pint of Guiness he undertakes some particularly worthwhile endeavours and in his latest he has resolved to raise awareness of the early signs of cancer. It’s called CheckYourC, a big purple button that is easily implemented on your web site or blog post and changes all the letter c’s into links to sites that show you how to check for cancer. Top man. Be a good egg and check it out here please, CheckYourC

In another life I used to paint. A realm of dragons, dwarves and pickled onion Monster Munch. Anyhoos, I got to re-visit that life, commissioned to create two ‘graffitti’ canvases for a couple of questionable characters in the north east. I enjoyed myself and here lies the results…

After 10 months of letting my facial follicles run riot and more than a lifetimes worth of abuse, especially off the butcher, the time came for Beard and myself to go our separate ways. It had gotten to the point where I couldn’t work out whether I was wearing Beard or Beard was wearing me. I was left with boat loads of fond memories, blunt clippers and have now taken on the appearance of an egg. What have I learnt? Easy, beards attract men and repel women and it is impossible to eat an ice cream with any sort of credibility. So to commemorate Beard I have produced a portrait, drawn with love and influenced by Julian Opie and especially Craig Redman. Consigned to the digital world, I hope he lives forever, or until my hosting runs out.

Remember folks, a beard is a gift you give to your face.

A small selection of logo visuals designed for Olivia de Maigret, an Osteopath. She eventually went for the first logo combined with the second logo’s typography. The idea stemmed from the client asking for the logo to contain Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man. This isn’t something I would have been able to do for way too many reasons, so using three shapes to represent mind body and soul I recreated the Canon of Proportions. Coincidently the shapes in this composition also form an ‘O’ a ‘D’ and an ‘M’. Did I mention I love creating logos?

My chums over at 3mil really are a great agency/bunch. Personable, creative, and I always enjoy mucking in with them. In this instance I helped out with some pitch visuals and I was particularly happy with the end results. To top it off, they won the pitch. Double champion.
